Many of the Vessel Abilities are Special, not Spells as one might expect.
- They can't benefit from Double Cast.
- They can be used regardless of Cripple or Mute.
- They can crit if the Versatile passive is equipped. Source
- Counters such as Evade Magic and Evade Skill provide no protection against Vessel abilities.
Hallowed Mind's damage bonus will only apply on the first damaging part of a multi-damage ability (for example, Dual Wield, Double Cast, Infused Edge) instead of increasing the damage of the full action.

Several Vessel abilities are mythological references:
Avernaal is similar to "Avernus," the name of a volcanic crater near Cumae, Italy, which in ancient times was believed to be the entrance to the underworld.
Ippokampos is a reference to the hippocampus, a mythological creature with the upper body of a horse and lower body of a fish.
Quetzalcoatl directly references an Aztec deity by the same name which appears as a feathered serpent.
Fafnir is a dragon in Norse mythology.
Psyhie is similar to "Psyche," which refers to both butterflies and the soul in ancient Greek.
